One Piece Chapter 1076 Offers New Clues to the Egghead Mystery

Chapter 1076 of One Piece, “Old Friends,” has provided some new information that should make it easier to figure out who the Egghead culprit is.

The ongoing mystery in One Piece has been getting fans scrambling for answers. Someone has locked the Straw Hat Pirates, the Vegapunks, and a few others in Egghead’s Labophase and sent the Seraphim on a rampage. Vegapunk Shaka has suggested that one of the Vegapunks is responsible for this, but there’s been enough ambiguity in the case to draw all sorts of conclusions.

That said, Chapter 1076, “Old Friends,” has managed to clear some things up. It has shed some more light on the case to make solving the mystery a little easier. With this new information, it’s easier to draw the right conclusions and get to the bottom of all this.

What New Clues Have Been Given?

The first thing that’s confirmed in this chapter is the significance of the disappearance of CP agents on Egghead. This was brought up previously in Chapter 1068, “A Genius’s Dream,” but nobody knew what it meant. Vegapunk Pythagoras mentioned that he wasn’t aware of the ships making it off the Future Island, but that could have had something to do with not wanting the World Government to know about his secret research projects. Chapter 1076 all but confirms that the disappearances are not only real but that they’re connected to the case.

This also confirms that the traitor has been active for at least two months. After leaving the port, a CP ship was sunk by Sea Beast Weapons; the survivors were then captured and kept barely alive somewhere inside the Labophase. When the next CP ship came to investigate the disappearance, they suffered a similar fate. This cycle was repeated until agents from CP5, CP7, and CP8 were all captured.

This two-month timespan implies that The current crisis was premeditated. This debunks just about every theory suggesting that the culprit of this crisis was an outside force like St. Jaygarcia Saturn or Caribou; they wouldn’t have this kind of prep time. The culprit has to be somebody who’s been on Egghead for the last two months. In other words, it has to be one of the Vegapunks as Shaka suggested.

Chapter 1076 also confirmed that the main Dr. Vegapunk, the Stella, is not the traitor. He’s been locked up in the same general area as the CP agents; that’s the real reason for his disappearance. This means that any theories about him being the traitor or setting an elaborate ruse to capture the Straw Hats have also been debunked. The culprit has to be one of the Satellites.

What Other Possible Clues Might Have Been Given?

Nami’s off-screen screams could also be taken as a hint as to who the culprit is. She was last seen in a group with Brook and Vegapunk Edison on the third floor of the Labophase’s Building A. Zoro inferred that she was being attacked by one of the Seraphim, and that’s entirely possible since S-Shark’s current location is still unaccounted for. However, it’s suspicious that Edison hasn’t been shown trying to stop the Seraph like the other Vegapunks were. The group might have stumbled upon S-Shark and Edison might have ordered him to attack Nami and Brook.

In any case, what’s been revealed about the case in this chapter has said a lot. It established a lot of facts, brought the list of suspects down by at least one, and may have even given another hint as to who the real culprit is. Now, everyone can move one step closer to solving the mystery of Egghead.
