Gary Neville has said on Sky Sports Premier League (7:07pm, December 30, 2022) that Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has been “sensational” for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The former Manchester United defender made the comments about Van Dijk in the build-up to the Premier League game between Liverpool and Leicester City at Anfield on Friday evening.
Neville made the comments to Klopp while discussing the best player the German boss has signed for Liverpool.

In our opinion, Virgil van Dijk has been a huge figure in Liverpool’s success over the past five years.
It is not just by coincidence that the Reds have won the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League during the time that Van Dijk has been at the club.
Now, of course, you cannot undermine the importance of goalkeeper Alisson, midfielder Jordan Henderson and forward Mohamed Salah, but without Van Dijk, the Merseyside club would not have been as successful as they have been under Klopp in the past five seasons.
Van Dijk has not been at his best since his long-term injury, but we believe that the Netherlands international centre-back will get there.
