Wednesday Season 2 May Have Already Teased Its Major Plot Line

Netflix officially renewed Wednesday for another season, and the Season 1 finale might have already teased next season’s major storyline.

The following contains spoilers for Wednesday Season 1, now streaming on Netflix.

Fans of Netflix’s record-breaking series Wednesday can finally breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that the series has been renewed. In a video narrated by Wednesday herself, Jenna Ortega, Netflix officially announced Wednesday Season 2. For some time, fans were filled with anxiety over the series’ place on the streaming service, but this announcement squashes any rumors that the show will be moving to Prime Video.

After twice breaking Netflix’s record for most hours viewed in a single week by an English-language TV series, The Addams Family spinoff is ready to “dive head first into another season.” The spooky and kooky world of Nevermore Academy has so much more to explore, and Season 1 might have already set up a new thrilling adventure with the macabre heroine. With a first season full of monstrous killings, one can only imagine what Season 2 will bring. But a major storyline fans could expect to see Wednesday try to uncover is who sent her a threatening text message.

Wednesday Leaves Nevermore in Season 1

Season 1 ended with Wednesday Addams leaving Nevermore for a school break after solving the mysterious killings in Jericho. During her departure, the show’s protagonist receives a series of texts from an unknown number on her brand-new iPhone. The menacing messages feature images of Wednesday with Tyler Galpin having coffee, as well as her talking to Xavier Thorpe moments before receiving the new cell phone. She also receives the sneaky eyes emoji with the words “I’m watching you.” Following the texts, Wednesday herself confirms she has her “very first stalker.”

With the season wrapped up in a nice bow, the electrifying whodunit gives the audience a foreboding antagonist to look forward to in the future. Eagle-eyed fans of the series will especially notice the photos Wednesday received in text are similar to the ones she found earlier in the season in Marilyn Thornhill’s music box. Whether this is a romantic stalker or someone trying to finish what Thornill and Tyler started, Wednesday’s new stalker is bound to be a major storyline in the next season. With the student body populous encompassing students with many different special abilities — from werewolves to sirens to telekinetic kids and more — the sea of suspects Wednesday will have to sift through is endless.

Who Is Wednesday’s Stalker in Season 2?wednesday-text-messages

The mystery of Wednesday’s stalker is an answer fans will have to wait to discover in Season 2, but the minimal evidence suggests it might be another student at Nevermore Academy. The stalker being a student would explain how the individual was able to get close to Wednesday without her noticing and take the photos they sent. If this individual is in fact connected to Ms. Thornhill and is somehow involved in her devious mission like Tyler, this would explain how she knew about the location of the Nightshade Sociey’s hidden library. A student stalker not only would present an intriguing storyline to see play out in Season 2, but would also better help fans understand how Thornhill and Tyler were able to stay one-step ahead of the goth detective.

With the series centering around a protagonist who sees the world in black and white, and “learning there are shades of gray,” fans will continue to see relationships become complicated. The stalker could be a student that fans haven’t been introduced to yet, but it could also be a friend or love interest of Wednesday’s as well. The supernatural mystery series has a lot of potential stories to tell in its next season and Wednesday’s stalker is bound to be a major aspect of its plot.
