A couple in South Africa was greeted by some unexpected visitors when they checked out the property and spotted a lion family sunbathing on the deck.

David De Beer and his wife Mariska were shocked to find themselves face to face with six big cats lounging in the yard.

At first, the squatting lions didn’t seem to follow stages but were startled by the sound of the door closing as they entered the house.

At first, the pair of squatting lions didn’t seem phased but eventually apparated into the garden in the town of Hoedspruit

David, the owner of building firm Davon Construction, said he and Mariska went to his father’s house on the Leadwood estate to check out the property for sale, “only to find someone has moved in. ”

Footage of the lions filmed from inside the house drew admiring comments from social media users before the pair met up close.

‘We need a garden like that! Amazing beasts,’ user Ross Goldsworthy wrote.

“Great guard dogs… can feed themselves, zero maintenance… zero bur.glaries,” joked Shelley-Anne Dean, another user.

David De Beer, whose father’s home garden had been temporarily taken over by big cats, said he was surprised to find ‘someone has moved into the vacant property

One social media user joked that the lions would make ‘great guard dogs’ and would definitely deter would-be b.urglars

Devin Dawson was more sympathetic to the couple’s dilemma, writing: ‘God, what can you do here. Talk about an inconvenience’.

The property is on the Leadwood Big Game Estate, where homes can reportedly sell for less than £100,000.

According to the estate, the big cats roam freely across 5,500 hectares (13,590 acres) of unspoiled bush between Kruger National Park and Blyde River Gorge.
